if i had a kid

it's been a while since i've done one of these. i dont know what number i'm on. i guess that's not important. if i had a little crumb-snatcher, i would make them read books. im not talking about dr. seuss. im talking about certain novels. my mother made me read "makes me wanna holler" by nathan mccall when i was a young teen. i was annoyed to have to but for real, it had some serious lessons in there that i was too hard-headed to take heed to. i recognized them as i was reading but i was so smart that i was stupid. i am still am a little that way but that's another post for another day. but yea, their little asses will be reading and i'm not talking about the coldest winter ever. why is that everyone's favorite book???? i don't remember why i hate it because i read it so long ago. and then i forgot why i hated it and re-read it and got mad again but that happened long ago, too. maybe someone with better memory than me can tell me why they didnt like it to save me two days.

My children are going to read too. I was a big Nancy Drew fan. I was like 2 reading levels ahead of everyone else (or perhaps it was the sub-par public school system and I was exactly where I was supposed to be) Whatev.

I actually LOVED the coldest winter ever. I was late to read it. I feel like everyone had it on their bookshelves, so I borrowed it from a friend. I tore threw it in like 2 days, then I bought my own copy and read it again. I've been anxiously waiting for the sequel, which is now here, BUT according to reviews on Amazon, it's really just a prequel and it doesn't deliver. A shame. I'm going to buy it and read it anyway though. :)

you make it sound like you wanna take revenge on your kids or something

yea, the prequel is called midnight, right? the mother of two of my cousin's kids. <---that sounded so ghetto. he has like 7 kids. anyway, she said it was good. i might borrow it from someone. i cant see paying money for it.

Yes I heard about midnight, but I didn't read any reviews yet.
I did not read the coldest winter. I have a shelf filled with books I need to either start or finish.... Once I get some things off my plate I will get back to REALLY reading. so many books, so little time. Oh yes my kids will read and they will love it, at least they better.....

I dislike those low bugdet "sex" books too. *Maybe it isn't such a good idea for kids to be borrowing these books from others in their J.H.S.and then we wonder why all of them are sexually active already* Such nonsense. Reading is the key to everything and we can't really expect greatness to fall out of these pages.

I remember reading one of these silly books, in the beginning Troy had curly brown hair and in the end she was the one with long black hair...I was totally confused cuz I know she did not have a makeover. So low budget, they could not afford an editor???

I read constantly as a kid. My mom on reading - "Put that book down and keep me company. Every time I look up you have a damn book in your hand."

Needless to say, she's not impressed with the author gig.
